What do Eagles watch on TV?

For the last two weeks, "On the Air" surveyed the local broadcast media about the professional teams. This week, we asked some of the Eagles about their television preferences.

Not surprisingly, many of the players like to watch sports.

Kicker David Akers said he likes to catch up with the rest of the league on ESPN's "NFL Primetime."

Wide receiver Todd Pinkston said: "I've gotta have my ESPN," and singled out ESPN anchors Stuart Scott and Chris Berman.

Linebacker Ike Reese said he watches the ESPN daily shows such as "Around the Horn," "Pardon the Interruption," "Rome is Burning," and "Sportscenter."

However, WR Freddie Mitchell said he is currently boycotting ESPN because of the series "Playmakers."

Outside of sports programming, defensive tackle Hollis Thomas is a "Spongebob Squarepants" fan and also listed "Sanford and Son," which airs on TV Land.

Rookie defensive back Roderick Hood enjoys "The Cosby Show" on Nick at Nite and "My Wife and Kids" with Damon Wayans on ABC.

Wide receiver James Thrash said he likes "Seinfeld" reruns and the Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Reese loves the E! Channel, and Mitchell is a fan of reality shows and the Animal Planet network.

Fox to show Eagles-Cowboys game

WTXF won the Eagles' lottery again. Fox will broadcast the Eagles-Cowboys game at 1 p.m. Sunday. Sam Rosen and Bill Maas will do the game.

In most markets with an NFL team, the NFL game is the top-rated show of the week. In Philadelphia, last week's Eagles-Redskins game had a 32.6 rating/ 53 share.

Football Frenzy scores

WPVI's "Football Frenzy" won last week's Sunday night football wars with a 7.4 rating/14 share from 11:30-11:45 p.m. WCAU's "Sports Final" followed with a 5.7 rating/11 share during that same time, and KYW's "Eagles Total Access" was third with a 2.9 rating/6 share during that quarter hour. Each local rating point equals 28,305 households.

Paterno on the air

ESPN's series "The Season" is about Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno at 7 tonight.
