Surfing by Laura Nachman Bucks County Courier Times September 30, 2003 Congratulations to WCAU news anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah, 45, and her husband U.S. congressman Chaka Fattah who became parents to a 6 lb., 11 oz. baby girl on Saturday. At press time, a name wasn't selected. The new addition joins Renee's daughter, Cameron, 5, and Chaka's two grown children. "Phox and Phriends Comes to Philly" When E.D. Hill co-hosts Friday's edition of Fox News Channel's morning show "FOX & Friends," from the University of Pennsylvania campus, she'll be entering enemy territory on two counts. The Texas native is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan ("I already have my tickets for the Eagles/Dallas game in Texas,") and attended Ivy League rival Harvard University. Hill, whose first name is Edith (hence the initials) has a local connection to Philadelphia. Her husband, Joe Hill starred for the Quakers basketball team under Chuck Daly in the early 70's. When told that many observers feel that the female anchors on Fox News Channel are "newsbabes," Hill exclaimed, "Thanks. For someone 41-years-old and the mother of four with a fifth on the way to be called a babe is a compliment." Hill can laugh at that accusation because she is a thesis away from earning her masters degree in government from Harvard (smart and pretty…I hate her). "FOX & Friends," co-hosted by Hill, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade will feature the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders, representatives from Tastykake, and J.T. Taylor of Kool and the Gang singing "Celebration." It airs from 7 - 9 a.m. on Fox News Channel. Former WPVI and KYW anchor Dave Frankel is back in school as a first year law student at Villanova University. " I was actually going to go to law school when I graduated from Dartmouth back in 19-something! I was ready to go to Dickinson in Carlisle, PA where my father and brother went to law school. (My father went straight from high school and graduated from law school at 19…tried his first murder case at 21, but that's another story…) Anyhow, I decided to try television instead. So, here I am 25 years later with an opportunity to pursue what has always been a goal of mine," said the former investigative reporter, weatherman, and news anchor. Frankel is continuing his reporting duties for ESPN's "Outside the Lines" in between classes. "Dr. Phil" is coming through for KYW (CBS3). At 5 p.m., most days he is a solid second place behind "Action News" on WPVI (6ABC), and ahead of the news on WCAU (NBC10). The Emmy winning "Amazing Race" will hold an open casting call at CBS3 Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Go to www.kyw.com for details. Has anyone caught former WCAU consumer reporter Orien Reid doing commercials for a local home improvement company? There's one more Mid-Atlantic Emmy to report. Jeff Chirico of WLVT-39 in Bethlehem won an Emmy in the documentary category. Chirico grew up in Levittown and Langhorne and is a former Courier Times carrier! WPHL vice president and general manager Leslie Glenn is leaving the station for a programming position with Lifetime in New York City. No replacement has been named yet. |
