WCAU morning weekend anchor and weekday reporter Lisa Mishler returned to work on March 17, after missing over a month due to a perforated esophagus.  Mishler, 35, was injured when she accidentally swallowed glass that fell into egg salad that she prepared in her home.  She was rushed to the hospital and had emergency surgery.  After 11 days in the hospital, Mishler recuperated at her home in Yardley.  Mishler said that she has a little trouble swallowing, but it could have been much worse.

Congratulations to CN8 weekday news anchor Connie Colla, who gave birth to David Colla Bentley on March 21.  David, named after his father David Bentley, a photographer at WCAU, weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. David joins big sister, Sophia, 3.

You Go Girl!

Trash TV may not be dead, as WPHL's "The Ricki Lake Show" has been consistently beating WXTF's "Good Day Philadelphia" in the ratings. "Good Day" seems to have lost its sense of humor since co-host Mike Jerrick left months ago.  The once funny entertainment-oriented show has shifted its focus to news and is now just like every other news show.  Note to new General Manager Robert Simone:  either hire Christian Farr fulltime as the co-host or hire somebody now!

WPHL's other bright spot is the surprising success of "Maury."  Maury Povich, who coincidentally hosted a morning show here for years called "People are Talking" on KYW, usually beats his old station and most of the others at 10 a.m.

Northeast High and LaSalle graduate Ralph Garman who is part of a popular Los Angeles morning radio show "Kevin and Bean" on KROQ 106.7-FM, may have created an international incident.
According to the L.A. papers, Garman, doing an impersonation of Jerry Lewis, managed to get through on the telephone to the president of France, Jacques Chirac.  Garman while imitating Lewis, a beloved figure in France, discussed the problems between the U.S., France, and Iraq.  French officials deny that Chirac spoke to Garman.
