Former "Good Day Philadelphia" correspondent Molly Mayock has gone from reporting about Hollywood to joining it, as the creative executive for Splendid Pictures. Mayock's job is to work with writers to improve scripts before they go into production. Splendid's next film is "NARC," starring Ray Liotta, and executive produced by Tom Cruise.

According to the Philadelphia native, "NARC" already has some Oscar buzz after getting good reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. It is scheduled for wide release in January. Mayock said "It will be really wild if, at the next Oscars, I'm with Tom Cruise as an attendee on the red carpet instead of an entertainment reporter interviewing Tom Cruise on the red carpet."

Mayock also reports that the next Splendid project will be a Richard Gere movie. "Mollywood in Hollywood" reports ran for five years on the WTXF morning show. The position was eliminated a couple of months ago, but WTXF is looking for somebody based in Philadelphia to handle a combination of Mayock's and former movie critic Bill Wine's job.

ROGER GETS BOGGED DOWN

Sources at the recent Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards say that host Bill Boggs was doing more than just reading nominees, as he was lobbying WTXF general manager Roger Lamay for the "Good Day Philadelphia" anchor job that will be vacated by Mike Jerrick.

PHILLY TV

Philadelphia's "Hack," starring Chestnut Hill resident David Morse, won its Friday 9 p.m. time period for the second week in a row with almost 12 and a half million viewers. "American Dreams," which is about a Philadelphia family in the '60s also posted solid numbers for NBC on Sunday night. Havertown's Tom Verica plays the father in the show, which features clips from "American Bandstand." We'll almost forgive Dick Clark for "The Other Half." On second thought, no we won't.

WPHL presents "Terror Behind the Walls," no it's not a staff meeting with news director Chuck Carter, it's the annual haunted tour of Eastern State Penitentiary this month.

WPHL weekday anchor Toni Yates will be going on maternity leave soon. She's due with her third child in December. Though weekend anchor and rising star Karen Jordan would be the obvious choice to sub for Yates, station sources say Mike Dardis will go solo.

RADIO NEWS

WBCB 1490-AM's Paul Baroli is now the station's program director and will do the 10-noon shift. Baroli worked the past three years as the news director and co-host of the morning drive show with Jim Foxwell. Eagles play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese is the station's general manager.
