According to a station spokesperson, WCAU reporter Sheela Allen Stephens will be off the air for the next several weeks after undergoing heart surgery.  Stephens, 55, who suffers from diabetes, had quadruple bypass surgery last April.

Has anyone seen the new KYW promos with news anchor Larry Mendte stating how viewers "can trust us when we come into your neighborhood?"  Seems like KYW is taking a direct shot at WCAU and its problems with Newtown Square, PA over its internet predators story.

Co-workers threw a baby shower for news anchor Dawn Stensland at WTXF on Friday.  Stensland, 39, is expecting a son with husband Larry Mendte of KYW in April.

In an email, Stensland wrote,

"I was thrown a wonderful surprise shower Friday. I thought I was walking into the conference room for a meeting.. and SURPRISE!

I received wonderful baby gifts.. cuddly blue stuffed animinals, a tiny Phillies outfit, tiny swimtrunks & sandals for the Jersey shore this summer, etc.

But a large group of my friends & co-workers donated $250 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.. which really means a lot to me since my mom & grandmother survived breast cancer.  Many of us walk every year in the "Race for the Cure"  on the morning of Mother's Day which is an emotional & great tradition.

I'm writing my thank you notes tonight.  What a wonderful group of people I work with every day. I'm just blown away by all their beautiful, thoughtful gifts."

Philadelphia's Heidi Bressler who seemingly was in the boardroom every week, finally got "fired" from "The Apprentice" this week.  Bressler also got a tongue lashing from one of Donald Trump's deputies, Carolyn.  This was a bad week for Delaware Valley reality show contestants.  Lansdowne's Michael Quigley was "cut" from ESPN's "Dream Job" a few days before Bressler was kicked off "The Apprentice."

"Coffee Break for Local Establishment"

Philadelphia's Old City Coffee made it onto a recent episode of "Hack" on CBS.

The Villian Will Be Played by Xavier

Ji Young Min has been hired as a fulltime reporter on KYW-3.  She had been working on a per diem basis the past few months.

WMGK 102.9-FM disc jockey and number one Jackson Browne fan Debbi Calton is excited about Browne's induction into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" this month.  In an email Calton wrote, "As a long time Jackson Browne fan, I'm thrilled that my favorite singer songwriter in the ENTIRE world is going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's been eligible for 7 years now so it's great to see his music, as well as his many social accomplishments, acknowledged. I think it's wonderful that Bruce Springsteen will be doing the induction honors since their careers have intersected over the years and one of their biggest events together, the No Nukes Concert, was a huge platform for music as activism. Jackson is not your typical rock and roll star...he believes firmly in music effecting change and he feels a personal responsibility to do what he can. And he just happens to be a great singer and songwriter and he's still absolutely gorgeous!"

The ceremonies will be broadcast on VH1 Sunday at 8 p.m. Besides Browne, George Harrison, Prince, Bob Seger, Traffic, The Dells, and ZZ Top will be inducted.
