LETTER FROM SUZANNE
|
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to address a few last details before we meet this weekend.
First, let me confirm that all listed times for group rehearsals are
accurate. Nothing concerning your assigned arrival has changed!
The handbook states that all students who are interested, would
meet for photos after finishing rehearsal on stage. However, Ms.
Boardman, our photographer is scheduled from noon to 4:00 and is
not able to stay past 4:00. This will not affect students in Showcase
#1, but it does mean that students involved in Showcase #2 (particularly
those in act 2) should plan on seeing Deborah earlier. Both Deborah
and I have been involved in many performances and I want to assure you
that four hours provides plenty of time to see everyone. Please do not
worry. Students are still required to proceed to the
auxiliary gym to dress and sign-in upon arrival.
Also, I'd like to ask for your cooperation if you're
considering sending snacks for your child. We have a few students
with severe nut allergies and the families and I would be most grateful
if you didn't send peanut butter or other related foods. I hope this isn't
too much of an inconvenience and thank you in advance for your
assistance.
And finally, emergency numbers will be set up for Saturday and
Sunday. Please, only use these contacts in the event that your child is
ill and will not be attending Showcase. You can reach Suzy Szafran
at 610-322-2978 or Lynne Slear at 215-828-7637; they will forward
your message to the appropriate teacher.
See you soon.

THEATER REHEARSAL: Saturday, May 20th, 2006
A full theater rehearsal will be held on Saturday, May 20th from noon until approximately 5:00p.m. The order for this rehearsal will be as it appears in the performance beginning by setting the Entrada and the Finale, and continuing with the individual classes. I will work with the youngest students first. The school asks that families be patient during the rehearsal and understand that arrival and dismissal times are merely an approximation. When setting lights, music, stage direction, etc. it is difficult to anticipate exact times.
Sign-In Sheets:
We require all students to sign in upon arrival at the
theater for both dress rehearsal and performance.
This sheet will be posted in the auxiliary gym, which is our dressing
room. DO
NOT FORGET TO SIGN IN!!!!
Arrival
Times:
REHEARSAL ARRIVAL: SATURDAY, MAY 20TH
Following, you will find the running order for both shows. Rehearsal will proceed in the same order. Students should arrive on Saturday at least 15 minutes before their assigned rehearsal time. Children should be stage ready at this time. This means makeup should be on and hair is done (you will find information regarding preparation later in this handbook). Wearing makeup for the dress rehearsal, particularly for the younger students, is helpful as a test run to help them get used to the feel and smell of the makeup. Please arrive in dance attire (class leotard and pink tights) and wear loose fitting pants over your tights. This will help protect them from becoming soiled while waiting to dress. Your costume should be brought separately and it is a good idea to find a discreet spot to place your name or initials.
*ALL STUDENTS: If
possible bring extra tights and a sweater and/or warm-ups*

PERFORMANCE:
SUNDAY, MAY 21ST
SHOWCASE #1:
The performance
begins at 1:00 p.m. with pre-ballet students. Unlike our rehearsal,
ALL STUDENTS, regardless of their order of appearance must arrive at the theater at 12:00 noon, one hour prior to performance. Students should be performance ready at this time (hair and makeup). Parents are to take children to the auxiliary gym which is connected to the stage and there will be signs posted to guide you. As indicated earlier, you should bring their costumes separately and you may dress them once you are here. Once dressed, all parents are requested to take your seats at this time. There are parent chaperones that will remain in the gym with the children and make sure they are safe and sound. Students performing more than once should have their second costume with them in the auxiliary gym. Chaperones will help the younger students with costume change.
Children will be escorted from the stage back to the
dressing room after their class performance and wait to participate in the
finale. They will remain with the chaperones during this time. We do not
anticipate any problems, however, in case a child is having difficulty remaining
in the back, we ask that you leave your cell phone #
when you sign in and also ask that you please leave your phone on vibrate
in case we must contact you.
***At the conclusion
of the performance, Pre-ballet parents DO NOT have to come backstage for
their child! We will bring your
child to you at the back of the auditorium.
Children will remain chaperoned until reunited with their parents***
*** PLEASE REMIND
YOUR CHILD THAT THEIR COOPERATION IS ESSENTIAL AND THAT PARENT CHAPERONES
ARE ACTING WITH THE AUTHORITY OF AND ON BEHALF OF PSB.
